This apartment has been designed with the latest environmentally-friendly technology to maximize comfort. It has a central air conditioning and heating system.
However, both AC and heating consume electricity, and if used recklessly it can lead to astronomical electricity bills. The cost of electricity IS INCLUDED in the rental you pay, up to a maximum consumption of 33 KWh per day (“daily electricity allowance”). Any consumption beyond the daily electricity allowance will be deducted from the security deposit at a rate of 33 Euro cent per KWh (which is the average cost of electricity in the region).
That daily electricity allowance is more than sufficient for normal use (see below), so that under normal circumstances you should not be affected by this cap. However, in a very few instances in the past, guests have abused this and wasted large amounts of energy.
By following these simple rules your energy consumption will be well below the daily electricity allowance:
- Set the AC temperature at 25C in the summer and the heating temperature at 20C in winter.
- Do not leave doors open while the AC or heating are on.
Although it may not be obvious, there’s a direct connection between our energy use and the environment. When we consume less power, we reduce the amount of toxic fumes released by power plants, conserve the earth’s natural resources and protect ecosystems from destruction. Hence, by avoiding to waste energy we will all contribute to a healthier world!
